EV Grants & Schemes
Did you know that the government offers Workplace Charging and Salary Sacrifice Schemes for businesses? By bringing EV charging to employees and fleets, cut down on the overall cost of EV chargers and installations, and benefit from pre-tax payments.
Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS). Vouchers worth up to £350 per socket, capped at 40 sockets per applicant. Covers up to 75% of purchase + install costs. Eligibility: off-street parking, an authorised installer, and a stated business need.
EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff & Fleets. Aimed at SMEs (≤249 employees). Up to £15,000 per grant — £350 per socket installed plus £500 per parking space enabled for future expansion. Designed for sites with 5+ off-street spaces.
Salary Sacrifice. Employees lease an EV from gross salary, saving 30–40% versus a comparable petrol car. The 2% Benefit-in-Kind rate (frozen until 2025/26 then a modest annual rise) keeps the company-car tax burden negligible.
We help with the application paperwork — eligibility check, voucher claim, evidence pack and post-install paperwork — and apply the grant directly against your invoice so you never pay the full amount upfront.

EV Charging for Fleets
Are you a fleet manager looking for easy and efficient ways to manage your fleet? We provide EV charging support for fleets nationwide and partner with Allstar Business Solutions for simple payment solutions for fleets.
Depot charging. Most light-commercial fleets (Transit Custom, e-Vivaro, e-Berlingo) need 7–22 kW overnight charging. We design the layout, run a load study, submit the DNO application and install with smart load-balancing so you can add chargers later without uprating the supply.
Driver-at-home charging. Where drivers take vans home, we install a dedicated charger at the home address with a separate MID-approved meter so the business is reimbursed only for business miles — fully HMRC-compliant.
Public network access. Through our Allstar partnership your drivers get a single fuel card that works at over 16,500 UK public chargepoints — one consolidated invoice, full VAT receipts, no expense claims.
Telematics & reporting. All chargers we supply are OCPP 1.6+ compatible and integrate with Geotab, Webfleet, Verizon Connect and most other major fleet platforms.
The cost of EV charging for businesses
We understand that businesses have to consider the financial impact of any new investment, so we've laid out the EV charging costs you might want to consider.
- Single 7 kW socket: from £1,250 installed (before grant). Net £900 after WCS.
- Twin 22 kW pedestal: from £2,800 installed. Net £2,100 after WCS.
- DC rapid 50 kW: from £24,000 + civils. Eligible for the LEVI fund in many councils.
- Load balancing controller: £450–£1,200 — usually pays for itself by avoiding a DNO supply upgrade.
- DNO application: handled by us; free for most sites under 70 A per phase.
- Running cost: 3–5p per mile on a business electricity tariff vs 14–18p per mile on diesel.
Every quote we send is fully itemised — units, cabling, civils, commissioning, certification and grant deduction shown line-by-line. No hidden extras on the day.

Frequently asked questions
What's the cost of EV charging for businesses?
The charging unit and installation costs are the main expense of EV charging for businesses. This cost varies depending on the number of chargers installed, the charging point model, and the location of the chargers, including potential foundations that may need laying. When you purchase EV charging points from us, the quoted fee includes installation costs.
What criteria do businesses need to install EV chargers?
Permission isn't required to install a wall-mounted EV charger on owned property, but if you're renting the business property you'll need written consent from the owner prior to installation. It's also important that you have a sufficient electricity supply to charge an EV, or multiple EVs. The number of EV chargers installed at a workplace needs to be balanced against the amount of electricity available.
Can you install EV charge points for on-site customers?
EV charge points installed at places of business for customer use can be a great way to attract customers and provide an additional revenue stream. We can provide helpful advice, cost-efficient installation and maintenance to keep your EV charge points running smoothly. There's also a government grant available for SMEs installing EV charge points in commercial car parks.
Does PluginPros offer EV charging support for fleets?
Absolutely. We've worked with, and continue to partner with, fleet managers nationwide. We've also partnered with Allstar Business Solutions to provide payment solutions for fleet managers to help keep their fleet on the road, reduce admin, and minimise fuel and EV charging costs.
What EV government schemes are available for businesses?
There are a few helpful government schemes available, including the Workplace Charging Scheme which reduces the cost of EV charging point installation for businesses, plus grants for small-to-medium-sized businesses. There's also an EV Salary Sacrifice scheme allowing employees to make pre-tax payments for their EV.

3 reasons businesses are moving to EVs
Lower running costs (electricity is around a third of the cost of petrol per mile), generous tax benefits including a 2% Benefit-in-Kind rate on company EVs, and a measurable boost to your ESG and net-zero reporting. Most businesses recoup the cost of installing chargepoints within 18–24 months through fuel savings and grant funding alone.
Beginner's Guide to EV charging
Three speeds matter: slow (3 kW, overnight), fast (7–22 kW, the standard for home & workplace) and rapid (50 kW+, public motorway). Most businesses install 7 kW twin sockets — they cover almost every employee or fleet vehicle in a working day, are inexpensive to install, and qualify for the full Workplace Charging Scheme grant.
How does public EV charging work?
Public networks (BP Pulse, Osprey, InstaVolt, Gridserve) are typically pay-as-you-go via a card or app. Workplace and customer chargers can be configured the same way — we set up RFID, app authentication or fully open access depending on who you want to charge, and any revenue routes back to your bank account weekly.
What's an EV salary sacrifice scheme?
Employees lease an EV directly through your payroll, paying for the car out of their gross (pre-tax) salary. Combined with the 2% BiK rate this saves a typical 40% taxpayer £200–£400 per month against a comparable petrol car — at zero net cost to the business.
Cost of EV charging for businesses
A standard 7 kW workplace install costs from £1,250 per socket. Twin 22 kW pedestals from £2,800. Larger sites (10+ sockets) often need a load-balancing controller and DNO application — we handle both. After the Workplace Charging Scheme grant (£350/socket) the average net cost lands at £900–£2,400 per socket installed.
